The first state high school tournament of the winter sports season is wrestling and it begins on Thursday in Fargo.
In Class-A, it should come as no surprise that Bismarck High is considered one of the favorites in both the dual and team points events.
The Demons went through the regular season unbeaten in dual's, plus a first place finish in the Mandan Lions and a runner-up in the Rotary.
"We've really wrestled well in our duels. I'm very confident in how we've done there. I'd say we're maybe a little stronger there than in our point side, individual side but I'm very confident with both sides. We've got kids that are really peaking at the right time and feeling very good about things," said BHS co-head coach Mark Lardy.
One person the Demons are feeling good about is defending champion Ryan Ripplinger.
"You come in here are a freshman or a little mat-packer and you look at these walls behind he and to the left of me and you just want to be up there and you strive for that and you've got your coaches reminding you of being a state champ and continuing the tradition of Bismarck High," said junior Ripplinger.
State Wrestling is at the Fargodome.
