BISMARCK, N.D. - The Patriots played and beat the Packers in the AAA semi-finals last year. Century plays at West Fargo in the semi-finals on Friday night.
"Every single day we just strive for greatness and strive to be the best in the state and to go back-to-back like we did last year. Not many people think we can do it this year either, and we have the odds against us, but I think we'll do it," says Michael Pfenning, Century senior.
"I personally think we have the best line in the state, and they can block for guys like Rader and Phillie to break away, and no one is going to catch them. So yes, I think we do," says Kade Lynch, Century junior.
One of the big reason's why the odds may be against Century is West Fargo is undefeated and number one-ranked in the state. The Packers will put the Patriots defense to the test.
"They are a very explosive ball club, and they take advantage of turnovers, and they're very physical. So I think the one thing we're really emphasizing this week is ball control; protect the ball. Ad we have to, first of all, defensively stop their run game. I think first and foremost that's what they like to do," says Ron Wingenbach, Century Head Coach.
Century and West Fargo played a very close game in early September with the Packers winning that game at the Bismarck Community Bowl 19-16. Friday's game will be in West Fargo at 7 p.m. Central Time.
The other AAA Semi-Final is also a rematch. Bismarck beat Minot in early October 14-7. The playoff game will also be in the Magic City starting at 7 p.m. Central Time Friday.
In Class-AA, St.Mary's is undefeated and number one-ranked, so the Saints will play at the Bismarck Community Bowl on Saturday afternoon. St.Mary's is hosting Hillsboro-Central Valley.
Fargo Shanley is hosting the other semi-final contest on Saturday. The Deacons will play Kindred.
