BISMARCK, N.D. - The State swimming and diving championships begin on Friday in Bismarck, and there’s a very good chance a capital city team will take home the title on Saturday. Century has won the last two.
The Patriots went 8-0 in duals, and they’ve won 9 of their 10 meets, including the WDA last week.
Century’s junior Carly Palmer said: "The last three years we've won WDA, but I don't think we performed as well as we have this year and this year was really impressive to watch. Everybody drop time without a full taper. And so, I think we're going into state seeded really well and with lots of room for improvement.”
The Patriots won 10 of the 12 events at the WDA, so they have high hopes this week.
"I think a three-peat would be wonderful. I think just to start building on that tradition of excellence and that tradition of keeping things going and they've got the make up to do that with having a young team and a team that does very well off season,” said Patriots Head Coach Kathy Aspaas.
Aspaas thinks the Patriots top competition at state will come from Davies, West Fargo, and Minot. The prelims start Friday at 3:30 p.m. CST. State finals begin at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.
