BISMARCK, N.D. - When you’re going on your sixth straight state championship, I don’t think many would argue against calling it a dynasty. That’s exactly what the Century boys swimming and diving team has the chance to accomplish this week.
The Patriots are in a similar position as last year. They knew the chances of winning the West Region were not good because Minot has a lot more depth.
Dennis Kemmesat says that changes at state because it’s more about top end talent, than it is about depth.
"I think from the standpoint of our team goes we're probably a little bit smaller than we were last year and a little less top depth but out quality at the high end is excellent so we got guys who are going to be up at the top of each event and hopefully we can pull some of our second and third and fourth guys up into the top sixteen to get into scoring position," said Kemmesat.
Just to re-enforce the fact region results do not imply success, the Patriots have only one the West Region once in their five-year run of state titles. The State Swimming and Diving meet is Friday and Saturday in West Fargo.
