The state volleyball tournament wraps up the fall high school sports calendar. It begins on Thursday at the Fargodome.
The Mandan Braves are the number four seed from the West Region and they will open against EDC tournament champion West Fargo.
Mandan Head Coack Anna Folk said: "I know they're a tough team. We played them right away in the Bismarck opener and you know they've got big kids. They are obviously number one in the east for a reason, so we just have to kind of be on our defense and blocking game what kind of got us through on Saturday against Legacy."
"I've been watching film a little I know we all have and we know there's a big block coming in they play a lot like Century. Good offense we're going try to put the ball down on defense and attack. We know Kelly Hagerly on the other side of the net is a good player, so we're going try to keep the ball away from her as much as possible," said Kennedy Harris.
The Braves lost their first match in the region and they played back through the consolation to eventually beat Legacy in the state qualifying match.
"I think they were very confident and they knew what had to be done and you know they didn't let the Nerves and everything else get to them we talked about being nervous about having butterflies in their guts those are good things we're prepared and we can handle those things it just means the moment is bigger when you're a little more nervous but nothing that we couldn't handle and they stepped up to the challenge and very proud of them," said Folk.
The Braves and Packers play the first game in the Class-A draw on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. CST.
