DICKINSON, N.D. - The next game the Dickinson State Women's Basketball Team plays will be the conference opener at Jamestown on Dec. 2.

They're considered one of the top two teams in the North Star. The Blue Hawks are 4-3, but that includes a pair of wins over a Division II team and a loss at Division I North Dakota State.

DSU has a lot of pieces in place to have another successful season.

"We had high expectations going into the season. We made the national tournament last year, and we were ranked in every national poll the entire season, and we started the year ranked number 22 in the nation, so we did have high expectations. We return most of our team, and I think we showed that in our first game against Division II Minot State. We beat them," says Head Cocah Mark Graupe.

But the Blue Hawks did lose the services of Leslie Beaudoin in that game. She tore the ACL. in her knee.

"Now we have to adjust without one of our best players. so we'll have to have the rest of the team pick it up, so we still have good depth, and we'll see how we react from here," says Graupe.

"We have 10 seniors on the team, so we're a very experienced squad. I see a lot of good team chemistry, and a lot of us are returners, so coming off a great season last year I see a lot of things continuing into the beginning of the season as well," says Ashley Bentz-Laub, junior.

Dickinson State has seven players averaging six points or more per game.

The Jimmies are number 12 in the pre-season national poll, so the conference opener will be a good one next week.
