DICKINSON, N.D. - Nobody who has played boys basketball at Dickinson High School has scored more points than Aanen Moody.
The Midgets senior passed Joe Hanstad to move to the top of the All-Time list. He has 1,609 and counting.
Moody scored 46-points in a win over Williston on Tuesday night. The record-setting points came on a layup in the first half. Hanstad was also at the gym to witness his record get broken.
"That moment was a moment I've been dreaming of and trying to pursue since I was a young kid, and so to share that with Joe was special, and to be able to have his recognition on the court at that time was unbelievable. Since I was fourth or fifth grade and I talked to Joe and asked him if he remembered the day when I told him I was going to heat his record. I've always had that belief that I would eventually have this moment right here," says Moody.
The unofficial Class-A scoring record is 2,002-points, held by Shanley's A.J. Jacobson.
Moody is planning to play at the University of North Dakota next year. Dickinson is playing at Legacy on Friday.
