BISMARCK, N.D. - On Tuesday, the Bismarck and Mandan boys met in a basketball match-up of undefeated teams in the WDA, the Demons prevailed.
On Thursday, we have the same thing on the girls side of the conference but this one has one extra thing going for it.
Century and St.Mary's are also the top two ranked teams in the state. The Patriots are 10-0 and rated number one.
Century is obviously successful so far this season but it also had to make some pretty big adjustments.
"Last year we were a little more loaded in the forward side of the ball. This year we're a little more loaded on the guard side of the ball so we've had to make some adjustments. Our base things that we do consistently from our freshman to our varsity program are pretty consistent but with each group of girls we have to make some major adjustments and we did with this group with that transition from more bigs to more guard orientated and things like that," said Century Head Coach Ron Metz.
For St.Mary's, becoming one of the top teams in the state has been a building process.
The Saints are 8-1 heading into the game and they players are enjoying the ride.
St. Mary's Senior Kaitlyn Wanner said: "It's super fun. We've always been the team that's been the underdog and it's nice to finally prove yourself and we're keeping each other motivated and we're a super close group so it's just fun to play with your friends."
St. Mary's senior Sydney Smith said: "All of us are really close and like a family and we don't have any drama between our teams and we just get along and we all play well together. I've been playing with a lot of these girls since fourth or fifth grade."
