Winter Olympics classroom celebration

BISMARCK, N.D. - Earlier Friday, the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang had its opening ceremony, and first graders at Northridge Elementary got to join in on the fun.

For the children's PE class, they gathered into countries and walked through the school, waving to their fans to commemorate the Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics

"We really wanted, as teachers, to show examples of athletes who have worked hard and persevered to overcome a lot of obstacles to get to where they're at. So I think they're shining examples of what these kids can grow up to be," said Alyson Leighton, first grade teacher.

You can see a replay of the opening ceremony tonight right here on KFYR-TV at 7 p.m.
