MINOT, N.D. – A Williston man awaiting trial in November in a Williams County homicide will serve two years in prison on unrelated charges out of Ward County.
Twenty-seven-year-old Alex Eggleston pleaded guilty Wednesday in district court in Minot to felony charges of simple assault on an emergency worker and theft of property.
Prosecutors say that Eggleston assaulted his attending doctor at Trinity’s ER on May 14, 2016. They also say officers arrested Eggleston for stealing a pickup truck in December of that year.
Eggleston will stand trial in Williston in the July shooting death of 43-year-old Vance Neset, the stepson of the chairperson of the State Board of Higher Education.
He remains in custody, and could face life in prison with parole if convicted in Neset’s killing.
