Williston man sentenced in child sexual assault case

STANLEY, N.D. – A Williston man will serve ten years in prison for sexually assaulting a girl in Mountrail County in 2012.

A jury convicted 60-year-old Clyde Pickens of three counts of gross sexual imposition in May.

Prosecutors had accused Pickens of assaulting the victim on three separate occasions when she was 10 or 11 years old.

Judge Todd Cresap sentenced Pickens to 20 years, with ten years suspended. He will serve five years of supervised probation upon release, and will also have to register as a sex offender.
