WILLISTON, N.D. - For 38 years, Capt. David Belisle has been an integral part of the Williston Police Department. Now, the assistant chief of police is hanging up his badge for good.

The 65-year-old says he felt the time was right to call it a career and turn things over to the next generation of officers. Thursday, nearly 100 people came out to celebrate one of the department's finest officers.

"I'm extremely moved and just in awe of the friends and camaraderie, and all the people's lives that they say I've touched over the last 38 years, and it makes me feel good," said Belisle.

Belisle says he and his wife will be moving to Minnesota in the spring, but will always come back and visit Williston.
