Williston Job Service numbers released

WILLISTON, N.D. - The most recent numbers from Job Service Williston were released this week.

The unemployment rate rose in January by 0.1 percent to 3.5 percent. Job Service officials say that is to be expected based on seasonal unemployment.

What they are seeing is a lot more new faces in their office. In addition, many companies are holding job fairs in the area, with seven scheduled in February alone.

"Lots of fracking positions. We work with, that are registered with us, and what we work with, we have seven companies that we work with that do specifically fracking, and they're all hiring fracking crews," says Cindy Sanford, Job Service North Dakota.

Nearly 50 companies have signed up for Job Service's March Job Fair, which Sanford says is unusual this early.
