WATFORD CITY, N.D. - Thursday, Devin Schmitz applied for college. He's not your ordinary high school senior. Schmitz has been named a finalist for the Questbridge Scholarship. The non-profit organization helps bright students from low-income families receive a full-ride scholarship to one of more than 30 schools.

Some schools on the list are Princeton, Stanford, Notre Dame and the school Schmitz is hoping for most: Yale. Only the highest-ranking students are considered, and Schmitz says he couldn't do it alone.

"It's really important to me. I care about it a lot. I'm very thankful for the opportunity, I'm thankful for all the support I've had through the school, everybody who's helped me get those high test scores and get all the application stuff done in time," says Schmitz.

Schmitz finds out in the next month if he is matched with a school on his list.
