Ward County Sheriff fires deputy who launched grievances

MINOT, N.D. - The Ward County Sheriff has fired a deputy who was the center of an ongoing controversy with the county.

Sheriff Bob Barnard announced Deputy Timothy Poston’s firing in a press release Wednesday afternoon.

Poston had accused Barnard of discriminating against his Canadian heritage and had also accused Ward County State’s Attorney Roza Larson of sexually harassing him on two separate occasions.

An outside investigator ruled the claims were not substantiated enough to reprimand either Barnard or Larson.

In the weeks after, Poston had continued to press the county commissioners regarding his salary and his placement on leave.

Ward County Sheriff Bob Barnard declined to comment.
