DES LACS, N.D. – Votes in the Des Lacs-Burlington school district appear to have given the green light to a plan to renovate the district’s elementary and high schools.
The district says an $11.9 million bond vote to fund the project passed with two percent of the vote.
The district needed 60 percent approval to pass. Out of 829 total votes, 516 voters said yes, for a 62 percent approval.
The bond issue would go to expanding the high school in Des Lacs to include a junior high wing, so 7th and 8th graders in Burlington would move to Des Lacs. The money would also go to renovations to the elementary school in Burlington.
Bidding will begin in the winter and work will begin at the end of the 2017-18 school year.
