Two men charged following scuffle in Minot McDonald's parking lot

MINOT, N.D. – Prosecutors charged two men with preventing arrest after they say the men engaged in an altercation with a police officer Tuesday in a McDonald’s parking lot, forcing the officer to draw his Taser.

Court records indicate that the officer responded to the South Broadway McDonald’s shortly before 6 p.m. for reports of men who had been driving up and down Broadway throwing things at other cars, and later fighting in the restaurant’s parking lot.

Prosecutors say the men resisted orders from the officer to stop, and when the officer tried to detain the men, they yelled at him and tried to start a fight, forcing the officer to draw his Taser.

Backup officers helped arrest 19-year-old Wicahpi Gonzalez and 27-year-old Duane Bear.

Both men pleaded guilty to the A-misdemeanor charges the next day, and were ordered to pay fines and fees.

Police also arrested a juvenile in the car.
