MINOT, N.D. – A judge has set trial dates for a Florida man charged in a November 2015 murder in Minot.
Twenty-seven-year-old Johnny Norwood, Jr., will stand trial in Ward County district court Aug. 21.
Prosecutors say that Norwood fatally shot 30-year-old Roger Falana in a downtown Minot alley.
He faces charges of murder, attempted murder and reckless endangerment, and is also accused of shooting another person who survived.
Norwood fled the state following the incident, and was arrested by Las Vegas police last July.
Retired Judge David Nelson, who is filling in for the suspended Judge Richard Hagar, said the trial would be scheduled for two weeks.
The prosecution said investigators are processing new evidence in the case but all of the discovery should be completed within the month.
Norwood remains in custody in Minot on a $2 million bond, and faces the chance of life in prison without parole if convicted.
