KARLSRUHE, N.D. – Nineteen cars from a westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train went off the rails northwest of Karlsruhe Monday morning, according to McHenry County Emergency Management. The department says that six of the cars tipped over.
The department says they received a report of a derailment around 6:20 a.m.
The train was carrying soybeans. It's unclear if any of the product spilled out.
There were no injuries.
The derailment blocked off 47th Street, but crews split the train to open up the street to traffic.
Crews are working to right the cars now and hope to have it back to normal by sundown Tuesday.
We will have more information as it becomes available.
