MINOT, N.D. - Preliminary work has begun on a two-year, $20-million-dollar project to demolish and rebuild Minot’s Broadway Bridge.
Construction crews narrowed down traffic flow to one lane in each direction Monday, starting roughly a block north and south of the bridge.
Northbound and southbound traffic will eventually be moved to the current southbound part of the bridge, as crews begin work on the current northbound lane.
Much of the work on the southbound lane will occur in 2018, at which point traffic will move to the new-look northbound lane.
The intersection of Central Avenue and Broadway was still open as of Monday, though that intersection will close when work begins on the northbound lane and remain closed for the duration of the project.
Both the City of Minot and the Department of Transportation have information on the project and detour routes on their websites: www.minotnd.org, www.dot.nd.gov.
