MINOT, N.D. - The City of Minot is asking residents to limit water usage, effective immediately.

The restriction is for any outdoor water usage, including sprinkler systems, lawn watering, and car washing.

Residents living in even-numbered homes should water only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while residents of odd-numbered homes should water only on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Anyone can water their lawn on Sundays.

The director of Public Works says because of the recent hot weather, water usage in the city has spiked to 13 million gallons per day, which is the current daily capacity of the Minot Water Treatment Plant.
