Special election to be held Tuesday to select new mayor for Watford City

WATFORD CITY, N.D. - When Watford City Mayor Brent Sanford was elected lieutenant governor in November, he had to vacate his position as mayor.

Tuesday, a special election will be held to replace Sanford as mayor for the remainder of his term.

Gregg Schuetze has never held office, but says he wants to build on what previous leaders have done for the city.

"I believe Watford City is the greatest place in the world, and I think that we have unlimited possibilities to build an outstanding community that's world renowned," said Gregg Schuetze, Watford City mayoral candidate.

Justin Voll is the other candidate. We reached out to him, but were unable to arrange an interview.
