When sidewalks and entry ways are cleared from a storm, it isn't always to the standard of handicap accessibility.
A public service announcement from the North Central Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America demonstrates just how difficult getting around can be for people with mobility issues.
“I think we can do a better job clearing snow and ice. It would make business and residential areas much more accessible for people with disabilities so they can feel more included in what the rest of us do,” said Teresa Larsen, Executive Director of the Protection and Advocacy Project.
Larsen also says it's important to pay attention to where you park. Snow may cover up the lines of a handicapped spot so be sure to look for signage.
