Sentencing in Minot hotel sexual assault case

MINOT, N.D. – A former Minot hotel staffer who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a teenager at the hotel will serve just under two years in prison.

Investigators say that 24-year-old Mohammed Siddiqui forced a runaway girl to engage in a sex act with him in exchange for a room last October.

Siddiqui pleaded guilty in August to an amended B-felony charge of sexual imposition. At his sentencing Friday, Siddiqui said he was “extremely ashamed” of his actions.

“I am extremely sorry for taking advantage of her when she needed my help,” he said.

As part of the binding plea agreement, Siddiqui will serve a deferred sentenced for ten years of supervised probation, but will serve three years in prison as a term of the probation. He will receive credit for 382 days served.

Siddiqui will also have to register as a sex offender and must avoid contact with the victim.
