Senator Heidi Heitkamp will be attending dinner with President Donald Trump on Tuesday.
Sources close to Heitkamps office confirmed that she was invited to the White House to discuss tax reform with the President.
The Washington Post and other news outlets are reporting that Democrats Sen. Joe Donnelly (Ind.) and Joe Manchin III (W.Va.) have also been invited to the dinner along with three senior Republican members of the Senate Finance Committee: Chairman Orrin G. Hatch (Utah), Patrick J. Toomey (Pa.) and John Thune (S.D.).
President Trump welcomed Senator Heitkamp onstage last week in Mandan while talking about his tax reform proposal at Andevor Refinery. The President seems to be courting support of Democrats in states that supported him in the 2016 general election, North Dakota voted for President Trump with nearly 65% of the vote.
Heitkamp has not yet formally announced she is running for reelection in 2018 but has raised more than $3 million dollars for a campaign. State Senator Tom Campbell has announced he will run for Heitkamps seat in 2018
