Sanford hosts annual Breast Cancer run

BISMARCK Over 500 residents of Bismarck and Mandan were running for Breast Cancer Awareness this morning.

Another part of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Edith Sanford run is organized every year in honor of those that are fighting Breast Cancer or have died from it.

Money raised by the event will support the Edith Sanford Foundation going towards things like helping women afford mammograms.

"With that early detection the survival rate is over ninety-five percent. The disease is completely treatable if you catch it early, and that's why it's so important to get those mammograms done," said Erin Green, Sanford Health Foundation Developement Officer.

The event usually raises more than $20,000.
