SD Custer State Park wildfire now covers 55 square miles, 200 homes evacuated

CUSTER STATE PARK, S.D. - A wildfire burning in South Dakota's Custer State Park grew rapidly overnight, pushing beyond the park's borders and threatening nearby communities.

The flames spread from 6 square miles on Tuesday to 55 square miles today.

Two hundred homes in the area have been evacuated.

One unused building inside the park has been burned.
