Drug addiction impacts North Dakotans of all ages.
A Christian based group is working to help teens and adults through their addictions. Candese Charles spoke with the group, it's students, and a local church who is helping them on the road to recovery.
Cort Voiles came to a point in his life where he needed to change.
"I spent some time behind bars, realized that my life was out of control and I lost several friends. And I just couldn't keep living that same way," (Cort Voiles, North Dakota Adult and Teen Challenge Student.)
So he took the first step toward fighting his addiction...
And joined the North Dakota Adult and Teen Challenge.
"It's restoring relationships in my family that I thought I'd never get back," says Voiles.
He's not alone. Teens and young adults throughout the state are suffering from drug addiction.
"People come to us hurting and broken and we return people to their community as productive members of society," says Andy hill, North Dakota Adult & Teen Challenge Men's Program Director.
River of Life Church partnered with the North Dakota Adult & Teen Challenge on their journey.
"Members within the church have come and gone through addiction throughout their lives and so it's a program that's near to my heart personally but also as a body the church has kind of adopted it as one of the programs that we want to sponsor," says Carl Clemetson, River of Life Church Board Secretary.
And tomorrow this area will be decked out for a banquet. A banquet that you too can be involved in to help teens and adults throughout the state get back on their feet.
"It's important for future generations to come and for future lives to be changed. Without it the program wouldn't be possible," says Voiles.
Empowering community members to help those fighting addictions change their lives for the better.
The banquet will be held tomorrow night the 14th from 5:30 to 8:30 at River of Life Church. To find out more visit the event Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/events/1441085349314257/.
