Kirkwood Mall is currently undergoing a renovation after a flood more than a year ago damaged the flooring throughout much of the property.
Officials decided it was time to renew the mall's look. Seventy percent of the common area floor is going to be replaced by tile. The floor will remain carpet under major seating areas. They are also updating the bathrooms and at least one of the entrances to the mall. They are doing everything they can to make sure that renovations will not impact their tenants' businesses.
"When you think about shopping, you think about Kirkwood mall. Our mall puts $9.2 million in sales tax revenue back into the community every year," said Jennifer Wilson, Kirkwood Mall Manager.
The plan is to have the while project done by October so it doesn't disrupt holiday shopping.
