Red Cross aids firefighters battling Minot recycling plant blaze

MINOT, N.D. - The Minot chapter of the American Red Cross is providing much-need relief Thursday for the firefighters battling the large fire at Earth Recycling.

Red Cross workers are supplying the firefighters with food, water and Gatorade.

Marco's Pizza, Subway, Starbucks, Minot State and other businesses have donated to the cause.

Allen Becker, who's volunteered for the Red Cross for several years, said he thought this was the biggest response he's been involved with since the 2011 flood.

“These kind of fires can sustain for two, three days, and the firefighters, they need all the energy they can get,” said Becker.

Becker said the Red Cross plans to remain on scene as long as they're needed to help nourish the firefighters in their efforts
