Proposed Elk Creek Pipeline could impact ND production

A proposed pipeline that would carry natural gas from Montana to Kansas could have an impact on production in North Dakota.

Officials say the more than $1 billion pipeline will help increase production and reduce wasteful flaring in the state's oil fields.

The Elk Creek Pipeline wouldn't come into North Dakota, but would connect to existing pipelines in the northwestern part of the state.

The pipeline would transport 240,000 barrels per day from Sidney, Mont., to Bushton, Kan.
