MINOT, N.D. - Minot residents living in apartments or four-plexes may continue to have private haulers pick-up their garbage.
Minot city leaders passed a recommendation at Wednesday's committee meeting, to allow private garbage businesses to continue to pick up trash where the city does not.
City Manager Tom Barry recommended that the city would enter a franchise agreement with the private companies so they would be held to the same standards that the city trash pick-up is held to.
“All sanitation companies that might be entering into contract with the city would be doing it at a fair and equitable way and at a standard that we set for the sanitation for our community, for the health and welfare of our community,” said Barry.
This recommendation will be headed to the full city council for review at their monthly meeting on Monday.
