MINOT, ND - The state ag commissioner was in Minot Tuesday talking about pipeline reclamation.
The meeting is first of it's kind here and is a part of a legislative bill that calls for a pipeline restoration and reclamation oversight program.
Two components of the program include raising awareness about the program, while providing educational outreach to farmers, ranchers, and landowners, as well as assisting them in working with pipeline companies.
"We just want to make sure that we arm the landowners and farmers and ranchers with the tools so that they have a chance to think about this from a different perspective and then understand where the companies are at as they are considering pipeline routes. Sometimes there's this growing frustration between the two," said Doug Goehring, North Dakota agriculture commissioner
Goehring says he hopes to hold more meetings like this in the future.
