Pictures with Santa help Red Cross

BISMARCK, N.D.- Kids sitting on Santa's lap is a holiday time staple, but this Santa is doing it differently this year.

"It's a great chance for them to sit with Santa and say hi, and get a picture taken, and it's also a great way to donate to the Red Cross," said Amber Jenkins, a Williston mother and vendor at the Gateway Mall.

PhotoStudio by Arlien Design has partnered with the Red Cross. Some proceeds from every photo with Santa will go towards the aid organization, and if you bring a case of water, you get a $50 coupon for a later photo shoot.

"A case of water is a valuable thing for us to have on hand with American Red Cross because we will donate our time and water to communities that have contamination or pipes burst, or single family fires or things of that nature. So we always have to have that water on hand," said Rob Stoltz, the Western North Dakota Red Cross executive director.

Jenkins told us her thoughts about the effort stating, "This is the time of the year we all should be giving the most, because it's also the time when everybody needs it the most. Just a helping hand providing food, shelter, anything,"

This group will be back at the north mall every weekend until Dec. 17.
