Picking a healthy Christmas tree

BISMARCK, N.D. - Well, it’s a perfect time to pick out a Christmas tree and there’s a few tips you need to know

So, you get a nice tree that’s fresh and lasts a long time. Look what it looks like in the bale; they look nice and full and thick.

Check out the color make sure it’s nice and healthy looking.

Tug on the needles to make sure they’re not coming off, and what we like to do is clean them we have a machine that shakes them. Kicks all the dead needles out of them. That way you don’t have to clean up afterwards.

We take the trees inside, hose them out with nice cold water and get the dust and dirt out of them. And, of course, what’s really important is to make a fresh cut on the bottom of the tree

Cut off about an inch and they will drink water again and there is a couple of different additive’s you can add.

We like one that’s called Three Life; helps them stay fresh and drink more. Then we take them outside, we bale them in our baler

It’s easier to get them in your trunk, easier to get them through your front door and into your stand.

And, the cleanup bag is good to put underneath your tree so that after Christmas you just pull up the bag and carry it all outside.

Just a few tips you need to know so you get a nice fresh tree that last a long time.

Thanks for another great gardening year. I think this has been about 31 or 32 years of it, and until next spring, good gardening.
