Ohio man gets 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting Minot child

MINOT, N.D. – An Ohio man will serve 12 years in prison for molesting a Minot boy three years ago.

Investigators say that 65-year-old Mark Rogers admitted to exposing himself to a boy he was babysitting and touching the boy inappropriately in June and July of 2014.

Rogers pleaded guilty to the AA-felony gross sexual imposition charge in March, along with a C-felony charge of bail jumping, after he failed to show up for a court appearance in 2015.

Judge Stacy Louser sentenced Rogers to 17 years, with five years suspended. He must also register as a sex offender and go through treatment.

In her ruling, Louser also deemed Rogers a ‘threat to society’ and opposed any early release due to medical hardship.

Rogers must also avoid contact with the victim and his family.

He will receive credit for 439 days already served.
