OSHA investigates oilfield workplace-related death near Williston

WILLISTON, N.D. – The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has confirmed that they are investigating an oilfield workplace death that occurred last Thursday near Williston.

A spokesperson for OSHA says that the victim was struck by a falling traveling block of a workover rig owned by Wisco, Inc., shortly after 10:30 Thursday morning. The worker was tripping out pipe at the time of the incident.

Investigators from OSHA were at the scene throughout the weekend.

According to the Associated Press, the victim has been identified as 23-year-old Jared Rizzo.
