North Dakota's Veterans Memorial

BISMARCK On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918 is when the armistice was signed. Which is why Saturday was Veterans day.

The North Dakota War Memorial contains the names of our fallen veterans from many wars arranged around a globe. This memorial has a special feature to help celebrate Veterans Day. At 11:00 AM on Nov. 11 North Dakota is lit up by sunlight. The effect lasts for only a couple of minutes.

"It's to remember, inside myself, the sacrifices that they give. I was born in another country, and I became a citizen when I was in my twenties, and its the patriotism has always been really important," Roxine Mcphail, Bismarck Resident.

Because of cloudy weather this is the first time in several years that the design has worked and the state was spotlighted.
