ND teachers train to support trauma-sensitive students

Educators across the state of North Dakota gathered today at Minot State to go through trauma sensitive training.

The training lasts two days and provides teachers and administrators with information about how to effectively help students who have gone through traumatic experiences.

"So recently North Dakota passed some unprecedented legislation for teachers to receive 8 hours of mental health professional development and so its a great opportunity in North Dakota to really use that opportunity meaningfully to talk about trauma; how it impacts kids and families and how we can support these kids in our classrooms so that they can be successful adults," says Heather Simonich, P.A.T.H. Operations Director.
