N.D. PSC approves transmission line to service Minot area

MINOT, N.D. - The state's Public Service Commission has approved a 20 mile transmission line that will service the Minot area.

It'll be an upgrade from an existing line that runs from McHenry to Ward County that's reaching capacity.

In addition, a new substation will be built on the southeast side of the Minot and will also utilize and existing substation near Velva.

"The project is needed to meet the growing demand for electricity, in the Minot area and to reinforce the reliability of the regions electric transmission system," said Public Service Commissioner Julie Fedorchak.
