MINOT, N.D. - The Ward County Sheriff’s office was closed Friday in observance of Veteran's Day, but the Sheriff and his staff spent much of the day moving into their new offices in the jail.
Sheriff’s deputies and staff hauled dozens of boxes of supplies into the new office and began settling in to their new desks.
Starting Monday, members of the public should proceed to the Sheriff’s Department north entrance off of 2nd Avenue SE, rather than going inside the courthouse.
The office opens at 8 a.m.
Sheriff Bob Barnard said his department will begin moving inmates into the new jail around mid-December. The addition will triple the county’s number of jail beds from 100 to 300.
Members of the community can also spend "A Night in Jail" on Dec. 1, the proceeds of which will go to support Minot’s Domestic Violence Crisis Center. Applications are available at the Sheriff’s Dept. through Nov. 22.
