MANDAN, N.D. - Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier had a first term filled with unexpected obstacles, and now he’s seeking re-election.
Kirchmeier says he has a lot of things he still wants to accomplish that he wasn’t able to during his first term.
“There’s a lot of events that have happened,” said Kirchmeier. “With the communications, and also all the protest activities and the new jail. There’s been all kinds of activity that has been ongoing and delayed some things and some efficiencies in the office that I wanted to take care of.”
He says he’s looking forward to the re-election bid and to continue working for Morton County and its citizens.
Kirchmeier says he doesn’t plan to make an election announcement.
“I don’t think I need to go out and make a big thing out of it. I’m just going to move forward with my plans that I am going to run for re-election and ultimately the people decide.”
He says he wants to make the sheriff’s department more efficient and provide professional law enforcement to the county.
