MONTANA - With Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke tapped to be the new head of the Interior Department, a special election will need to be held to replace him in the Montana House.

Both state Republicans and Democrats are making preparations to nominate candidates when the time comes.

Governor Steve Bullock will make a call for a special election, which will be held no more than 100 days later to fill the vacancy.

Both sides say it's important for their parties to nominate a candidate quickly.
