'Missing Man' table in Minot honors POWs, MIAs

MINOT, N.D. – For the second year in a row, a member of Minot’s American Legion post has assembled a ‘missing man’ table to honor prisoners of war and those considered missing in action.

Richard Reuer put the table together in front of the Primo restaurant in the lobby of the Grand Hotel.

The table displays an American flag, along with a POW/MIA flag draped over an empty chair, reminding passersby that someone is ‘missing.’

The display includes other symbolic items, including a white tablecloth, a rose, a Bible, a lemon, and salt.

“I had prayed about it, I said ‘Well, Lord, what would you want me to do as a post chaplain?’ And I felt within myself that I was to bring out some of these items to remind our veterans as well as the community,” said Reuer.

The table will be on display in the Grand Hotel lobby through the weekend.
