MINOT N.D. - Helping those in need is something Minot's YWCA prides itself on. This Thanksgiving will be no different.

Thursday, 15 volunteers will be cooking a Thanksgiving meal for 35 women and children staying at the shelter. Staff members say helping those in need, especially during the holidays, is what Thanksgiving is all about.

“It's very special to us our mission here is to empower women, so to have a family style thanksgiving, we're expecting 30 to 35 clients here and we just cannot wait,” said Lauren Moore, executive director.

The YWCA is now collecting donation items for Christmas such as toys and clothes until Christmas. Staff members say that they would like the items to be brand new.
