Minot man arrested in Georgia for child sex crimes pleads not guilty

MINOT, N.D. - A North Dakota man arrested following a child sex crimes investigation in Georgia has pleaded not guilty in district court in Minot.

Prosecutors say that detectives in Pauling County, Ga. found discarded pages of a journal where 31-year-old Timothy Sprenger admitted to sexually abusing a child as young as six months old, and engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior in the diaper aisle of grocery stores.

Sprenger had moved to Georgia, but the encounters with the child would have occurred in Minot.

Sprenger remains in custody in the Ward County Jail and will appear again in court Feb. 21.

He faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted.
