Minot man accused of grabbing steering wheel during spat, causing crash

MINOT, N.D. – A Minot man faces a charge of reckless endangerment after investigators say he grabbed the steering wheel of a vehicle during an argument with the driver on the Highway 83 bypass, causing the car to veer off of the road and crash.

Court records indicate that police responded to a report of a domestic incident in the 3000 block of 11th Street NW early Tuesday morning. Investigators spoke with 34-year-old Travis Patterson, who admitted to grabbing the steering wheel, forcing the car to lose control.

Officers located the vehicle in question on the bypass and noted that the car had abruptly left the roadway and crashed.

The woman is pregnant, though neither she nor Patterson reported any injuries.

Patterson made his initial appearance Tuesday and remains in custody in the Ward County Jail.
