Minot man accused of choking woman during dispute

MINOT, N.D. - A Minot man faces a felony charge of aggravated assault on accusations he grabbed a woman by the neck multiple times during a dispute.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jason Alumbaugh made his initial appearance in Minot district court Wednesday afternoon.

According to a criminal affidavit filed with the courts, early Tuesday morning the woman told investigators that Alumbaugh became upset with her when she insisted on him staying home.

She told investigators that Alumbaugh grabbed her by the neck and pushed her on a couch, at which point she struck him with a nearby car seat to free herself. She said Alumbaugh later put her in a chokehold, to the point where she began to lose consciousness and had difficulty breathing.

Alumbaugh bonded out and will appear for his preliminary hearing and arraignment Feb. 15.
