MINOT, N.D.- The Minot Police Department promoted Greg Johnson from senior officer to sergeant during a special ceremony Wednesday afternoon.
Johnson started his career in law enforcement as a correctional officer for the Ward County Sherriff's Department in 1994.
He joined the Minot Police 14 years ago as a patrol officer, eventually moving up the ranks to senior patrol officer in 2008. In 2013, he transferred to investigation.
Before his promotion to sergeant, he was working in the records division.
“He's worked a lot of time as a patrol officer. Some of his time has been as an investigator, and most recently as a records officer, so he's got a diversity of experience,” said Minot Police Chief Jason Olson.
Johnson's promotion happened just before MPD started their annual employee and officer of the year awards.
