Minot Police investigators make child porn arrest using Pinterest account

MINOT, N.D. - A Minot man was arrested following a year-long investigation into reports of child pornography.

Minot Police investigators first received a cybertip from the state’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in December of 2016 of possible child pornography uploaded to the website Pinterest.

Investigators traced the account to 29-year-old Nicholas Piper.

A search of Piper’s northwest Minot apartment in February revealed a cell phone that had recently been reset.

Investigators analyzed a USB drive with content from Piper’s Pinterest account that revealed more images of child pornography, with some as young as four years old.

Piper faces felony charges of promoting an obscene performance of a minor and possession of certain materials prohibited.

He remains in custody and will be back in court June 30.
